Exercise Log 5.27.14 (Boyce Park Trail Hike)

Just wanted to log a short note, today was a rest day from the weight training but I did get out and do some cardio with a friend. No pictures to share, but today was muggy and hot with intermittent thunderstorms. Thankfully it only lightly sprinkled during the actual run, which was through Boyce Park. We hit the trails for a 3.89 mile jog with a respectable elevation and a few obstacles like some muddy straights and creeks. It was a nice jogging pace – we could still talk, and slowed down to appreciate things periodically, but kept mostly on the move. It was a harsh wakeup though, because the Rachel Carson Challenge is coming up and that’s a 34 mile hike that I gotta do largely at this jogging pace (15 min/mi). I’ve always had good endurance, so finishing isn’t a concern, but I’d like to finish without brutalizing my body too much. We’ll see how it goes, hopefully I get the time for a training hike somewhere inbetween now and then.
