Exercise Log 4.10.14 (Back Day, No Cardio)

Alright still catching up with logs, today was back day. Obligations today and the fact it was nice outside and I didn’t want to stay couped up encouraged me to do a shorter workout. As a reminder to myself, I need to stop doing longer workouts – I’ve ranted about it before but I keep thinking I need to do more when I’m actually in the gym it’s just a neurotic trait. Today’s workout was short in comparison to most, but felt really good and made me feel like I did what I needed.

Now that I’m home I’m pissed I didn’t do pendlay rows, though. Will have to next time.

Deadlifts: 3 sets 6 reps @ 245lbs. First set used a switch grip. Second set used a raw grip for the first rep then a hook grip for the last 5. Last set used a raw grip for 3 reps and a hook grip for the rest. Trying to vary my gripping to use the most grip strength demanding grip first, until it fatigues then move back. Started with switch since I just wanted to knock that set out. Then as a means to test my hook grip, I decided to do a couple extra heavy single rep sets. That was 1 rep @ 265lbs and 1 rep @ 285lbs. Tried for a new personal max of 305lbs, and only came a hair short of succeeding. Soon I may be able to officially break the 300lb barrier!

Bent Over Row’s (Barbell): 4 sets 10 reps @ 115lbs.

Low Row (seated cable rows): Set 1) 10 reps @ 135lbs. Set 2) 10 reps @ 150lbs. Set 3) 6 reps @ 165lbs (hard).

1-Armed Dumbbell Rows: 5 sets of 5 reps @ 80lbs.

Back Hyperextensions: 3 sets of 10 reps (hands crossed over my chest in the count pose)

Lateral Pulldowns: Went extra light on these to ensure no shoulder aggrevation would happen, as this does involve some rear delts. 5 sets of 10 reps @ 85lbs.

That’s it! No cardio today but might go for a hike. Going to leave cardio logged off this for now, got a big run on my next leg day (probably Monday) planned so we’ll see how it goes then.

Socialism WORKS!

Socialism WORKS! is a short website presentation I put together years ago with help from a friend. It is something of a snarky take on Socialism, critical of the advantages of Socialism from various origins of the idea.
